WELCOME
Tucked away in the quiet little conservation village of Fortingall, deep in the heart of Highland Perthshire, lies Yew Tree Cottage, a converted steading building which is a self-contained holiday apartment with all the mod-cons blending a thoroughly contemporary interior with an architecturally pleasing old exterior.
Fortingall is at the entrance to Glen Lyon, thought by many to be the prettiest glen in Scotland. The village itself is situated 8 miles west of Aberfeldy and is outstandingly pretty and is home to the Fortingall Yew Tree, reputed to be the oldest living thing in Europe, at least 2000 years old. It’s a magical spot and at Yew Tree Cottage, you are right on its doorstep.
Fortingall is rooted in history and the village itself was designed in the Arts and Crafts style by James McLaren at the turn of the 20th century. There are thatched cottages, a hotel and the village hall houses an annual art festival for 2 weeks every summer showcasing the very best art and crafts made by local artisans.
Directly opposite the tree is Kirkton Farmhouse, instantly recognisable by its chocolate-box looks and pretty gardens. Adjacent is Yew Tree Cottage which has its own garden grounds and is a wonderful, secluded spot in which to unwind and enjoy true peace and quiet.

DINING IN FORTINGALL
BREAKFAST
As the model we have created is effectively a hybrid BB model, we will deliver to your door each morning a mini selection of fresh produce to help you get set up for the day. We offer fresh juice, fruit and yoghurt as well as some croissants, breads, cheese and ham. Cereals, tea, coffee and the like are already contained within your larder. You can also expect your room to be refreshed as you are out and about exploring the local area.
EVENING DINING
We have numerous recommendations for outside dining and of course you have your own kitchen facilities. Please note that we may be able to offer some form of evening dining on selected nights in the future, although commencement timing of this has still to be determined.
We base our dining out recommendations on our own experiences and those of our guests who report back which ones they have enjoyed most, and we simply listen and ensure that we continually update ‘the best ones’ list and pass it on.
